General Usage Questions:
(Back to FAQ)

Why are the glycemic ratings not already selected for the foods in the data base so that I must do them myself?

There are two good reasons you have to select and set your own glycemic ratings for the foods you are eating. One, there are three different systems of glycemic ratings being used (the numeric white bread and sugar systems or the Acceptable/Unacceptable system.). If we pre selected and set the ratings for one system of rating foods glycemically and you were using a different system they you would have to deselect all the pre-set glycemic ratings and then change them to your desired system.

The second reason is far more important according to the learning behaviorists who helped us design our program for maximum learning effectiveness. Their principle was simple by having to rate the food glycemically one time yourself you are more likely to remember that food's glycemic rating when you are away from your computer selecting foods to eat in the real world. The more different ways you see and interact with a piece of information the more likely you are to be able to remember and use it!

For more information on how to use the Glycemic rating feature in the software see the Glycemic Rating Feature and other similar help topics in the Software's help file and see the section of the registered users web site called Your Diet. Then see the subsection called Using the Low Glycemic Food Technology at
