This is truly the program for someone that really wants to know what he is eating and what the effect is on his or her body. This is not a program for people expecting 7-day miracles. It is a program that meets nutritional guidelines with all of its suggestions. I have used this program to take my weight from 220 to 175 in about 9 months. The loss was regular and rewarding. The one thing I found is that you the routine of data entry should never stop. Your body really wants to go back to the earlier heavier weight and the continued monitoring of intake can fight this problem. Healthkeeper "forces" me to look at what I am actually eating...and how the little in-between-meal snack add up more quickly than I imagined! No wonder my weight doesn't drop!!!! … The exercise component is wonderful! I can create my standard exercise routine and easily record it. I like the NutriCode feature a lot. I also like that you can click on the bars for a food and see a popup with all the food label info... Even though I felt like I already ate a pretty healthy diet, this program made me realize how the highly refined flours I was eating made me feel less energetic and made me unable to lose weight. HealthKeeper appealed to me because it offers so much of the rationale behind successfully implementing wise nutrition. I bought it when I weighed 228 pounds and realized that I had to change habits or face the health consequences. While I was in good physical condition, I realized that I could be in much better condition. HealthKeeper helped me focus on the "problem areas" of my diet... I simply drank too much Coke as a habit. (I could easily drink 5 or 6 tins a day... and as soon as I saw the result printed on the screen, it became obvious that this was an area where I could change. I now drink Coke or root beer at the rate of about one tin every two weeks. This alone is good, but other changes were important, too. Using reference materials included with the program, I learned why it had been so hard to make a lifestyle change that would keep the weight off. I have lost weight before, but have not been able to keep it off. Realizing that some of the favored things like pies and cookies tended to fall into the high glycemic foods group, I found a way to get the flavor I craved without setting myself up for failure. 

Despite the multiple trips driving from New York to Washington and back across the country to New York... TWICE! I have managed to continue dropping weight. After the tragedy in September 2001, I stopped recording my intake and gained about 5 pounds in 7 months. Now that I am back to using HealthKeeper, I am again losing weight. The five pounds previously gained went by quickly and many additional pounds are now gone. By next week I'll be in the "under 200#" category! Dieting is very hard; eating wisely with HealthKeeper is much easier. The key difference is that the results of what I have eaten are printed on the screen each time I check to see progress, and the foods, which have kept me from continuing the better habits are now low on my list of things I want to eat. Easy way to track goals and progress in weight loss and fitness improvement. Best system I’ve seen to date for people who are self-motivated. It’s been slow going, but I’ve lost 15 pound in the past 6 months while building muscle mass (BMI dropping from around 28 to 22 – 23). I thought I was eating well and eating reasonable portions, but when I started tracking my intake, I realized I was eating much more than I needed. I am morbidly obese, and I have lost 12 pounds in the first week of using the program. I have discovered that if I can take an active part in my diet by entering foods consumed into a computer, and then seeing the results in a variety of formats (charts, graphs, etc.), I have a greater chance of success. I loaded the software onto my laptop, and I religiously enter every bite I eat into the intake tracker. I've tried online web pages that offer similar functions, but the screen update time was so awful, I lost interest. The Program was very easy to use I use it everyday about 10 times a day… It is so convenient to come home and just enter the day's food intake and exercises in about 10 min. It is not a data entry beast like other programs I have used before. I have been using the program for two weeks constantly and have lost 14 lbs. AT FIRST I THOUGHT-COMPLICATED ? THEN I THOUGHT VERY DETAILED ? THEN AFTER I OVERCAME MY INITIAL BEWILDERMENT----I NOW THINK--AWESOME !  GREAT PROGRAM !   ...IT REALLY LETS ME UNDERSTAND WHERE I AM AT IN AN EATING PROGRAM. I have actually found the software to be very useful.  I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and I love the ability to track my four blood glucose readings a day in your software.
Part of my treatment is to also monitor my carb intake to match it with my insulin levels, the intake section allows me to do this and for the most part have found all the foods that I need in the database.  The exercise tracking is good as a way for me to keep a record of my exercise. The log book is very helpful in tracking my thoughts and ideas on my diabetes as well as listing any problems I am having. I print out as much of the data as I can to take to my diabetes education classes and it is helpful to have this ability to print out. I have a Lifescan One Touch Ultra that can download readings but the readings never match what is in the meter.  Your software allows for a more accurate overall picture of my diabetes care.  ---- John

This is a super product, as I'm certain you already know. I have e-mailed a propoganda letter and your Web-Site location to a number of our relatives, friends, and business associates. It has been an eye-opener for my wife and I. I am 58 years young and recently went through a quadruple by-pass - plus, I learned that I have Type II diabetes. I am overweight by 30 pounds and I thought that my diet standards were "fair" and "reasonably acceptable". My cardiologist opened our "eyes" rather quickly. A couple of months ago my husband found out that he had diabetes (Type II). Therefore, I purchased the Health-Runr Performance Diet v2.9 Software. He has been on the Health-Runr's low glycemic way of eating for about 2 months and has lost 25 pounds. His doctor is very pleased with his weight loss. The program really works! He has had to cut several inches off his belt and poke new holes in it. Also, his slacks fall off when he takes his belt off. Guess he's going to need new slacks! My husband also likes the way the program keeps track of his Blood Glucose readings, which he graphs and prints for his doctor. His Doctor tested his Blood Glucose, Cholesterol, Triglcerides etc. and found that they had greatly improved using the low glycemic diet. In fact, the doctor told my husband that if he lost another 20 pounds, he would take him off his medicine (glucophage). So he will continue the diet and hopefully lose that 20 pounds.

Short Photo Success

Dear Heath-Runr: My husband and I purchased your software in October 99. (We did download it in September). Since then, my husband has lost 35 pounds, and I have lost 25 pounds. The reason I wanted to write, is that it's amazing how many people have "converted" to "MY" weight loss system thanks to you.

When people started to notice my weight loss, so many questions of "how". They would see me eat "whatever" and knowing me, that I don't exercise, they needed to know, what I was doing. Well, every single person, I told them about your web site and how your product worked. At first I would get responses that it was the same principle as Weight Watchers, or Richard Simmons dial a meal plan. Not ever doing those, I couldn't relate. Well, the same people that were on Weight Watchers and the Richard Simmons plans, came back to me, and asked for your web site again. As I have lost 6 dress sizes (and still plan to go to a "single digit" dress size) and my coworkers look the same.

With the weather changing, I started wearing belted clothing, and blouses tucked into skirts. My coworkers converted. So far, 5 of my friends have purchased your product, and more have downloaded and are "debating". I am actually playing a "consulting" type role when they ask me how did you do it". Don't worry, I'm not actively "marketing" your product, nor am I looking for a job, but I think it is so humorous that so many people are asking me "how".

About my success, I feel better about myself, and looking at pictures from last year to today, really makes a difference. I just went shopping for new clothes, as I was swimming in my size 16's! It's nice to now that what I wear now (Size 10 and Medium), there is something larger out there!

Your concept is simple, and it's completely up to the individual and their desire to lose weight. Thank you for making it so easy.

Hey Guys!

Health RunR 2.9 is the best fitness software I have ever used. I have used a total of 4. Two were discount versions that kept track of Kcal consumption and usage but, took several minutes to load food options once a few weeks were recorded. I then discovered Health RunR. It was great! I lost 20 pounds and loved the bar-codes used to track nutrients. The new version, sent to me last week, was even better. I had begun to use Diet Power. It wasn't half the program yours is. I graduated with a degree in Health Education (BS Secondary Education) and am a former distance runner. After getting out of the Marine Corps, I spent all of my time studying, working and eating poorly. I had no time to exercise and found Cokes and Honey Buns easy to acquire at the University of Cincinnati Library late in the evenings. I still hate the way I let my health fail by not practicing what I spent several years studying. I was a great researcher and loved turning in 75 page research papers on diet, exercise and nutrition studies. When I found your software, I felt as though I found a company that hired true health professionals to provide a much needed public service.

Last Summer, while jogging I had a heart attack. I knew what to do so I avoided permanent tissue damage. I have a second chance. I pulled out my health runner program and began a strict low-fat diet. After 3 months I was jogging 4 miles 3 times a week in under 9 minutes per mile. Health RunR kept my fitness plan in order so that I could reach a series of short-term goals resulting in the 20 pound weight loss.

I left the program for the Winter and gained 15 of those pounds back. Since I started the new program on May 23, 2000, I have lost a solid 2 pounds. If it is possible, the only thing that would be better is if the exercise record would subtract calories from calories eaten tally at the bottom right hand corner. The price is very good and appreciated.

My new version of Health-RunR Performance Diet is a real joy to use. You and your crew have made many changes that make it easier to use. Great job! From a doctor who has lost 140 lbs. and who had been using the basic Health-RunR version.

I love using this program! Recording food and exercise is a standard part of all weight management protocols, but using the Health-RunR software takes that accountability to the next level, by providing me with immediate feedback on the impact of my food and exercise choices. I'm making the right choices, as a result.

The graph feature is really helpful-I clearly saw the correlation between eating too many high-glycemic foods one day and not feeling well that day because of blood sugar swings. And I can observe some other patterns emerging. I underate carbohydrates a few days in a row, and then saw a spike in my carbohydrate consumption (because I felt too hungry) and another day of feeling unwell a few days later.

The clarity is astounding. There's no one telling me what to do. I'm choosing my own foods mindfully-and consciously-probably for the first time in my life.

The exercise recording feature is another big plus. I bought a heart rate monitor yesterday so that I can record more accurate data in my Health-RunR logs. This is a wonderful tool! It's so empowering to be able to see my "own" numbers on a meal-by-meal, daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Now, my nutritionist is a valued consultant, not an authority figure. I would also like to give you some positive feedback about Health Run-R. After trying a number of similar software packages that I found on the Internet, I decided to purchase Health Run-R because it was functionally exactly what I wanted: it recorded both exercise and nutrition data, allowed me to chart my progress toward weight and body fat goals and allowed me the convenience of "saving" nutrition information for my favorite foods.

After using your software for several weeks, I realized that it had provided me with another, unexpected, benefit - an education. Using your software changed the way I thought about food by teaching me exactly how the food I ate impacted my overall diet. Even without using your software now, I have already made changes in my eating habits that are becoming second nature. At a fundamental level, I learned how each eating decision carried a caloric "price" to pay. Imagine trying to stick to a budget while shopping in a store where nothing had a price tag. In a sense, that's what I had been doing with food. At a deeper level, your software helped me visualize the relationship between the different foods I ate and the overall balance of carbs, fats, proteins and different nutrients I needed to maintain a healthy diet. Your "drag and drop" visual method of recording and displaying these relationships is convenient enough that users have a much better chance of sticking with the software. Also the visual method of displaying the information facilitates lasting comprehension of the relationships. Using traditional "calorie counting", I doubt I would've had the time or patience to last more than a week.

I think the program is excellent. It does take a bit of time but so does exercise and preparing proper meals. HealthKeeper, has a very clean and easy to use interface without treating the user like a fool. I have found it a simple program to customize to my eating habits, even though these are very different to the American standard settings. In summary, HealthKeeper is a simple aid to any diet or fitness regime, that is quick and easy to use, and accessible to all. When I am filling in my dietary intake I think about what I am about to eat and change my eating habits accordingly.
